We firmly believe that rally scoring is the future of Pickleball. Like badminton and volleyball, which transitioned from their original scoring systems to rally scoring, Pickleball is poised for a similar shift. Rally scoring is predominantly used by the pros for gambling and TV purposes, and to stay ahead of the curve, we are adopting it from the start.
One of the major advantages of rally scoring is that it simplifies the game and rewards you for every point won, regardless of who is serving. Additionally, it allows for consistent match start times. With the current Pickleball scoring system, matches can last anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes. In contrast, rally scoring provides a more predictable match duration, which is ideal for tournaments and league play. This predictability allows for better scheduling. For example, if matches are scheduled at 10:00 AM, noon, and 2:00 PM, rally scoring ensures that matches do not run over time and cause delays. Rally scoring helps maintain a tight schedule, ensuring all matches start and end on time.
